DuPont™ Kevlar®

Kevlar® properties

DuPont™ Kevlar® is a so-called para-aramid fiber, just like Twaron® and Technora®. Kevlar® is available in a wide variety of types, each with specific properties. The most suitable yarn is dependent on the specific field of use. EuroFibers offers both Kevlar® 29 and Kevlar® 49 in a wide variaty of titers.

Kevlar® 29 (K29)

K29 is the original type of Kevlar®. This yarn is available in a number of different titres (thickness of yarn). They all have more or less the same tensile strength per denier. K29 is used primarily in ropes and cables, protective clothing such as gloves cut resistant, bullet-proof vests and helmets and to reinforce rubber in tires and hoses.

Kevlar® 49 (k49)

K49 is a type of Kevlar® with a high modulus (resistance to elongation) mainly used in sailcloth, ropes and cables, composites used in watersports, space and optical fiber cables.
