Yarn Processing

Most high performance fibers are produced as continuous filament yarn. Besides offering a large number of high performance fibers as so called ‘flat yarn’, EuroFibers also has the possibility to enhance these fibers. This way we can offer you a wide variaty of products, modified upon your request and tailored to your specific wishes and requirements. Subjoined you can read an overview of the fiber enhancement processes that we can arrange for you. Dyneema Fiber solutions1 300x124 Fiber Enhancement

Twisting

Twisting is the process of combining filaments into yarn by twisting them together in order to even out length differences on the filaments and make a compact yarn. Many high performance yarns benefit from the improved load sharing that twisting allows. It improves the uniformity and smoothness and can be used to optimize strength and elongation of a fiber bundle. This process is often necessary in order to improve the processability of the yarn during knitting, weaving or braiding braids. We use both ring twisters and double twisters (2 for 1) of renowned brands as Galanand Lezzeni. Optimum twist levels vary with the material, fiber size, yarn size, end use, etc. A clockwise twist is known as the Z twist and a counter clockwise twist is known as the S twist.  Two or more strands twisted together form ply yarns and also fall within our processing boundaries (see stranding).

Assembling

Assembling or plying is the process of merging different yarns. The difference with stranding is that there is no twist put on the yarn, but that the different yarns are merly assambled together. This process is typically carried out in order to obtain a certain thickness or strength of the yarn. Assembling is usually followed by twisting or stranding (see below) and therefore a pre-processing process.

Stranding

Stranding is the process in which single yarns are merged and twisted to create thicked yarns, which are also called rope ends. These yarns are used for the manufacture of thicker ropes and round slings. For this process we make particular use of state-of-the-art Roblonmachines. We can supply strands of all high performance fibers up to 80.000 dtex.
