PPS

PPS: Yarns for Chemical and Temperature Performance

Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) is an organic semi-crystalline polymer with high stable chemical bonds. PPS’s outstanding chemical and temperature resistance distinguishes it from all other high-performance materials, as very few polymers can match its ability to withstand hot, humid and corrosive conditions. Dimensional stability, inherent flame retardance, and good electric properties make PPS a perfect solution for challenging applications.

Properties of PPS

  • Exceptional chemical resistance, there is no known solvent capable of dissolving PPS at temperatures below 200°C/400°F
  • With a continuous use temperature of 190°C/380°F, PPS performs well in high temperature environments without degradation of its properties
  • High dimensional stability providing low creep under a wide range of loading conditions
  • Low moisture absorption and high resistance to hydrolysis
  • An inherently flame retardant material PPS offers higher consistency and durability in fibers
  • Easily meets most industry requirements including the FAA low flame, low smoke, and toxicity rating

Applications of PPS

  • Filtration fabrics
  • High temperature labels
  • FDA approved food and beverage conveyor belts
  • Sewing threads
  • Narrow wovens
  • Aerospace thermoplastic composites
  • Braided sleeving
  • Dryer belts
  • Automotive mechanical rubber goods
